Camp Cocker is a very small rescue group and we will never be able to save them all. You can make a difference by going directly to a shelter to rescue a dog.

Check out the new Cockers in Los Angeles Shelters blog by Camp Cocker volunteer, Jill, who is searching shelter websites daily to keep us informed of new cockers as they come into the shelters. We urge anyone who can go to a shelter to adopt one of these dogs to please do so. We are struggling to save one at a time but the sheer number of cockers in our shelters is overwhelming and we are just one small rescue group. Thank you!

To check for current cockers in shelters in the Los Angeles area, go to PetHarbor.com and then do a search by breed. Check under both the LOST dogs section AND the ADOPTABLE dogs section. Shelters often forget to change the status of a dog from lost to adoptable and this one clerical error costs many dogs their lives. If you see a cocker you are interested in that is currently in a shelter, waste no time and phone the shelter asap. Many government run shelters are difficult to get a live person to talk to you so please be prepared to have some patience. When we call shelters, it is not uncommon for us to be put on hold for twenty or more minutes and then to be hung up on and we have to start by calling all over again. But we try to keep in mind that for the sake of the dog, we need to just be patient and that most of the shelters are under staffed and not enough people are there to answer phones.
