help Minnie to walk again and help Maddy get her wheels!

We have an immediate and urgent need for donations. Minnie is an eight to nine year old cocker spaniel that we rescued in 2009. She has had a hard time getting adopted because of her age and also because of her left eye which has glaucoma. We've been monitoring her eye pressure monthly and she is on anti-glaucoma medicine but may one day need the eye removed.

At 8:00am this morning, Minnie was running around like normal. Ate her breakfast, wagging her tail. By 9:30am we noticed a minor limp. We checked her pads of her paws, her paws, her knees and her hips, she let us move everything, no yelping, didn't seem to be in any pain, we couldn't find anything in her paws. We thought perhaps she pulled a muscle and she layed down to take her morning nap.

At 12:00pm we noticed Minnie laying in her dog bed, panting. We tried to get her to stand up and this was when we first learned she now had loss of use of her rear legs. We immediately rushed her to the vet, they did a basic exam and determined she already had nerve damage. It is suspected to be a slipped disc or something with her back that is cutting off the nerves. We are now going to the VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital for an MRI and our surgeon is waiting to hear from us in the morning to find out if back surgery can save her from becoming permanently disabled.

We are in dire need of IMMEDIATE donations! Please help spread the word to everyone you know (you can click on the share button below to post it on Facebook or email it to your friends). No donation amount is too small, it is going to take a village of all of us, every dollar, every donation, to help this girl be able to walk again.

We are in particular panic because this is bringing back memories of a sweet dog we rescued last year named Maddy. She had already had nerve damage for too long by the time we rescued her and she is permanently disabled. Here is Maddy's story, to follow along to see how far she has come in trying to walk without surgery. But in the end, Maddy will never be able to fully walk again and we are actually preparing to raise funds for Maddy to get a custom cart for her. We just don't want this to become Minnie's fate if we are not able to raise the funds quickly and do all that we can for her to have a chance to walk again.

If you would like to donate towards the custom wheelcart we want to get made for Maddy, from Eddie's wheels, you can see the video clip below that shows the cart we want for her. The other video clip is Maddy's last swim therapy session in September. In the water is the only place she can have freedom of movement and now we want to give her that freedom of movement on land as well. Help us to get Maddy her wheels and donate below!
