oops . . . an unplanned rescue

Uh oh! This is Heidi, a cocker spaniel that was a stray dog and came into the shelter pregnant. She gave birth IN the shelter, one of the most dangerous places for unvaccinated puppies to be born into. We didn't have room for Heidi and her pups, as we had just rescued three other dogs in the last two weeks and are still struggling to pay off our October vet/boarding debt. But we couldn't leave her at the shelter, with her babies potentially being exposed to disease and with no one there to do the puppy raising. Sooooo, you guessed it, we rescued them all. Heidi had an unplanned pregnancy and now Camp Cocker has an unplanned rescue. If you live in the Los Angeles area, we are in dire need of foster homes for some of our other dogs at Camp Cocker, to bring our boarding bills down.
