a Turkey day rescue!

Oops, it is near the end of the month again and our boarding and vet bills are now due! Yikes! We owe $2280 to boarding and $3385 to our vet (as of 11/23/10, we still have more charges pending for the dogs we currently have staying at the vet). Dogs on the waiting list for medical are Alvin (second knee surgery $1450), Lay-Lay (first of two knee surgeries $1450), Archie and Heidi need to get an eye doctor consult (and possible cataract surgeries). Please help spread the word that we need a big push for donations! Thank you! (you can share this blog post below by clicking on the share button)

Did you know that if you do all of your Amazon shopping through the banner link on our website, we actually get a donation? It's true! And who doesn't shop on Amazon, especially when looking for good deals and for anything and EVERYTHING! For electronics purchases, the donation we receive is 4% of your purchase, for MP3 products 10%, Amazon Video on Demand 10%, even if you buy Gift Cards redeemable on the Amazon site, we get 6%! Wow! Thank you Amazon.com!

Heidi and her pups got through their upper respiratory infections and the pups are growing by the day. They are now four weeks old and will be up for adoption at the age of twelve weeks (late January). We are taking adoption applications now but not promising any puppies to any adopters until the pups reach twelve weeks. This is so we can learn more about their individual personalities and behaviors and so we can best match each one up to a puppy appropriate home that will be able to continue their socialization.

Camp Cocker does not support the concept of giving a live animal as a gift. Please take pause and reconsider the message you are sending to your children if you are planning to give them a dog for Christmas. Giving a dog as a gift creates a frenzy of excitement, this is true. However bringing a new dog into the home at a time of year when there is a lot of chaos going on, can be very stressful on any dog. Please help spread the message that live animals are not objects to be gifted, but rather they are long term commitments, to be made by an adult whom is prepared for embracing that commitment for up to the next fifteen years.
