Look what Santa brought to the wiggle butts!

Sweet Pea ready for New Year's 2011
Well . . . SECRET Santa that is! This year Camp Cocker was blessed with TWO Secret Santas! (sshhhh, don't tell anyone who it is, but let's just say that Santa loves all good doggies and so do our two Secret Santas!)

Between the two very generous Secret Santas combined, we have just received a pledge to match every donation from now up until midnight on December 31st (for up to $2500). So get the word out and get those donations coming in. Sweet Pea is getting ready to put his dancing shoes on to party on New Year's Eve if the matching funds are awarded to his friends at Camp Cocker!

Here are some of the doggies your matching donations will benefit:

ALVIN has been patiently waiting for his second knee surgery since July. And in typical Camp Cocker fashion, we keep rescuing new medical needs doggies and Alvin just keeps getting put on the waiting list for fundraising. Let's get Alvin his second knee surgery for January so he can be ready for someone to adopt him and love him like the little Chipmunk that he is! (estimate for Alvin's knee surgery is $1450, that is after the generous rescue discount our vet gives us)

ARCHIE is just a miracle doggie and can count his lucky stars that he is alive today. He needed an emergency blood transfusion when we first rescued him and in the last few months, he has struggled with fox tails that were continuing to emerge from his body. His left arm pit just had exploratory surgery last week for two wounds that kept re-opening. He was flushed out, sutured up and is healing. Now the last thing for Archie is cataract surgery. He saw the eye doctor two weeks ago, next step is an eye ultrasound, retina test and to check the angles behind the eye (approximately $700). If he passes those tests and is cleared for cataract surgery, we will then need to raise approximately $1900 so he can restore vision in his left eye. This boy has come much too far for us not to see it through and get his cataract fixed so he can be ready for adoption!

HEIDI who was a stray dog that gave birth in the animal shelter in late October. We didn't really have room for seven more doggies but we didn't have the heart to leave Heidi in the shelter where her puppies would have been exposed to disease and possibly died. She is now done nursing her puppies and will be spayed soon. We also need to take Heidi to an eye doctor to get an assessment of her right eye (which has some film over it, could be a cataract or could be an eye ulcer?).

Heidi's puppies are now eight and a half weeks old and will be ready for adoption at the end of January (twelve weeks of age to give them the most socializing possible). For SERIOUS adoption inquiries only, please go to CampCocker.com to submit an online adoption application. We are getting flooded with emails about them and the best that we can do is to only consider serious adopters whom have thoughtfully completed an application. We first want to receive all of the applications and then try to match make the puppies by their personalities to the homes and lifestyles of the prospective adopters.

LAY-LAY had her cherry eye surgery done once but both of the cherry eyes popped back out and she needs a second surgery. (approximately $450 for both eyes) She also has seen two different vets about her knee caps that are permanently out. One vet said not to mess with the knees if she is walking comfortably and pain free, another vet (a surgeon) suggested we do the knee surgery to make her more adoptable. We first have to raise the funds to get her eyes redone and then from there, make a decision what to do about her knees. They are not hurting her and we are nervous about doing surgery on them but also equally worried that she will not get adopted if we don't fix them. If you are interested in adopting Lay-Lay and would like to give us your input as well, we would love to hear from you!

And of COURSE we've been busy rescuing new doggies in the last two weeks, dogs who aren't even up on our website yet we've been so swamped! Here are a couple of the new wiggle butts that have just entered Camp Cocker. We need to fundraise to pay for them all!

In review, here are the current needs of Camp Cocker as of December 25th: our December vet debt still needs to be paid off ($1600), our two boarding bills need to be paid off ($2800 at one place, $600 at another, plus going forth an average of $200 a day is being spent in boarding right now, we NEED foster homes!) Those are our immediate bills/debt. Plus the doggies above whom are all waiting for their medical funds to be raised.

If you can help by donating any amount, no amount is too small. And remember if you donate by the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, it qualifies for our Secret Santas to match it, so your donation has DOUBLE the value! (and of course that end of the year tax receipt, who doesn't love that?) C'mon now . . . maybe you have a Christmas gift you are returning and you can spare a little change? We can do this, all of us together, one dollar at a time, one donation at a time, to save one dog at a time!

Help put a smile on Sweet Pea's face and help spread the message to everyone you know! (you can click on the share button below to email this or share it on Facebook). We woof you everyone! Thank you for supporting our little animal rescue! Happy Holidays and let's make 2011 a GREAT New Year to save lives!
