you're my best friend and . . . Lucy is all grows up

darn it! we REALLY wish we hadn't seen this . . .

We knew these brothers were good friends but after seeing this NOW what are we going to do? Brady and Eli are already having a challenge getting adopted because they both have psychomotor seizures and both may need to be on medication for the rest of their lives. They will also be prone to having frequent check ups at the vet to get blood work and maintain the correct level of phenobarbital to control the seizures. Just barely seven months old, these two brothers are going to need some really patient and committed adopters. If we keep them together as a pair, it means they may risk being in our rescue for much longer than if we split them up to separate homes. We are so torn over this and just trying to have faith that perhaps an adopter will come along who will jump at the chance to get the two as a pair. Think of how much easier it would be to finish raising them as they have each other to run around and play with? When we caught them sleeping like this, our hearts sank . . . it is not our wish to split them up but what can we do?

Look at her now! Graduating from obedience, good girl Lucy, good girl!

On the top row is Lucy graduating from school, Lucy with her new family. The second row is Maggie, the first cocker spaniel that made the Chang family fall in love with the breed. They made a generous donation in her memory on the one year anniversary of Lucy's adoption. Thank you to the Chang family for opening up your hearts and your home to adopt Lucy!

It is updates like this one that just brightens our days. We work so hard to rescue the dogs and try our best to match make them to their new homes. But when time has passed and we hear how a dog we rescued is now doing with new pictures, well . . . that is just the best feeling ever. We don't get paid for doing rescue . . . but the rewards like this are priceless. We love you Lucy, you have the best little munchkin face ever!

Awww my heart is breaking! I have a cocker spaniel, Bella, who also suffers the same and is on phenobarbitol and potassium bromide. PLEASE know this is no bother at all and it's amazing the difference two pills make in her life! I have her levels checked every 6 months. A simple blood test. Wish I could take them! Good luck!
