calling all friends . . . we've fallen and we can't get up!

fundraising ideas

we are getting there, 51.5% as of 7/3/10 at 9:00am!

oops . . . we did it again

We took in six new dogs in May and we really shouldn't have because we still owed our April medical bills. But we couldn't pass up all of the cherry eye cockers who were not looking like they were going to make it alive out of the shelters. April, May and June were the three most expensive months we've ever had in the history of Camp Cocker. Now the bills are due and we find ourselves having to reach out and ask for help.

We can't rescue any more new dogs until we get our current medical/boarding debt paid off to zero. Here is a break down of what we owe right now and what we will owe by June 30th:

OUR CURRENT and immediate vet debt owed: Community Vet $1214.00, Brentwood Pet Clinic $4258.50. We will be owing Flash's vet boarding on Saturday of $448 and we will be owing our general boarding bill on June 30th for the month of June of $2600.

To see a complete list of all of our medical invoices from the vets and how our debt added up so quickly, they are all posted under what rescue costs which is something we've started doing to become more transparent.

June 2010: On waiting list for medical: Bunny needs another hernia surgery (this is what happens to dogs who are used for breeding over and over, poor Bunny!). Alvin needs bi-lateral knee surgery for his luxating patella and Shakespeare needs cataract surgery on his left eye. Eli needs a recheck at the eye doctor for the ulcer on his right eye. In order of priority, Eli's recheck (will be less than $100 we hope?) and Bunny's hernia surgery (will be less than $400 we hope?)

So here is our plan, we are going to keep this fundraising thermometer going until we reach our goal to be caught up and current with our existing bills. Then we will next move down the list of dogs waiting for medical and begin to fundraise for each of them in order of priority. When we are done with that, then we will be able to start taking in new dogs again.

Does this sound like a good plan everyone? C'mon! Help spread the word. Our regular donors are all tuckered out from donating all of the time and they've brought us this far. Now we need to go on to the biggest campaign ever to bring in NEW donors. We need to expand our donor pool to invite new friends of Camp Cocker! Tell people about us, did you adopt from us? Have you been following our rescue stories and want to tell people about how we rescue a lot of medical needs dogs? Your friends can donate as little as they can afford. You know what? $3, $5, $10 . . . those donations add up and all of you together can make an impact. At the bottom of this post you can select either "email" and forward it on to everyone you know, or you can select "share" to post it on twitter or facebook. Please help spread the love and spread the woof! Camp Cocker needs donations and we need to gain a whole lot of new friends!

You can either make a one time donation below or you can sign up to make a monthly donation for as little as $3 a month!

Become a Friend of Camp Cocker for as little as $3 a month! Each of us can't do it all by ourselves, but all of us together, we can make a difference, one dog at a time. Now get out there and tweet or facebook or my face or space book or whatever it is you smart social networkers do! Let's get the word out far and wide!
