oh Flash . . . when are you going to find your "people"?

This boy needs a publicist to help promote him and get him adopted!

Poor Flash needs your help in finding his forever home. He is too much dog for most average pet owners and he really needs an active owner who can work with him on finding healthy outlets daily for his energy and for his mind to be used. A brilliant thinker, Flash is always on the look out, checking perimeters, watching people, cars go by, he is smart smart smart. The trouble is, he is so smart and gets bored easily if he does not have a "job" to do all day long. Flash is such a good natured and happy little fella. He loves going on walks or having doggie friends to run around the yard with (or the dog park). He wiggles his cocker butt whenever he sees his friends and loves to initiate play with other dogs. We have discovered that Flash is more of the "working dog" category, rather than just a normal "pet dog". He needs a job and he needs a high level of daily activity, stimulation and energy. He might do best with someone who can divert his energy into something like agility training or sheep herding. We would describe Flash as having the smart mind of a Border Collie or an Aussie Shephard, a breed that is highly intelligent and also highly active. Flash is an energetic and fun dog and would do best in a home with someone who has the time to spend working with him, exercising him daily and doing further obedience training, agility training, hiking, swimming or taking him to sheep herding classes. Flash is going to be a really rewarding dog for the adopter who is prepared to put the time into him. One dog trainer suggested we find Flash a home with a runner, someone who runs several miles a day who wants a running buddy. This would give Flash a "job" and be an outlet for his energy and his mind. If you know of any runners, please ask them to spread the word to their friends and running groups!

Would you like to sew dog collars for Camp Cocker?

Volunteer, Barbara, has been making beautiful dog collars and sending them to Camp Cocker. If there is anyone else out there who is inspired by Barbara, here is a link to How to make a dog collar and wouldn't you know it? There is a cute cocker in the picture!

Get your craft supplies and sewing supplies at Fabric.com and we get an 8% donation!

come out and look at our butts wiggle!

Um, well, actually what we meant to say was to come out and meet some of the doggies of Camp Cocker! If you are in the Los Angeles area, we are showing off some of our cutie pie Cocker Spaniels on Saturday 5/1/10 from 10:00am - 1:00pm at Doggy Day with Cats Too event in South Pasadena. 1000 Park Avenue, we will be in booth #21. Stop by to say hi or to meet some of these wigglebutts:

Top row: from left to right: Bunny, Shakespeare, Sophie, Flash, Kelly. Second row: Ernie (half of the bonded pair of Bert and Ernie), Alvin (who needs double knee surgery for his luxating patella).

Besides donations (which of course we are always quite in dire need of) . . . we are currently looking for donations of old blankets (time for some spring cleaning? check your closets for old stuff you don't want). Our doggies in boarding always need blankets. Also, we are looking for donated packages of Revolution (for dogs that are cocker spaniel sized). It's expensive so even if you donate only one package, this is extremely valuable to us. We thank you thank you thank you, so VERY much!
