its the great pumpkin fundraiser!

That's right . . . we are not above dressing up dogs and making them work for donations. We need to pay our vet debt off from Sept. and we have two dogs waiting for knee surgery (Alvin and Lay-Lay) and we need to start raising funds for Archie to get his cataract surgery (oh my goodness, does it never end with these cockers and their medical?).

And guess what just happened? We have a donor who has just pledged matching funds for any donation that comes in from now until the end of October (capping at a total donation amount of $2,000). It's the Great Pumpkin Fundraiser Charlie Brown! What an amazing and generous offer and so many wiggle butts are going to now benefit as a result (and with your help). Now lets do right by our Secret Pumpkin and start spreading the word. Look, even little Jasper is showing you the fire he just put out and the house he just saved, so that you will be impressed with him and donate! Please help support our little rescue group so that we can continue to save special medical needs dogs like Jasper.

Please help by sharing our Great Pumpkin Fundraiser plea to everyone you know. You can do this by using the "share" button below. Email it and Facebook it, and ask everyone to please do the same. Thank you so much for supporting animal rescue! We woof you!

an ouchie, a little paddling and a paw it forward

Jasper's demodex has had a flare up again and he is back in the hospital tonight. They are giving him a Mitaban dip, starting him back on oral ivermectin daily and antibiotics for his skin. He scratched and itched his face so much last night that this morning he was bleeding. The fur never grew back in on his paws and throat and face but the last time he had a skin scraping, it had come back negative for demodex. The vet we saw today at the emergency animal hospital, told us that thirty days of oral ivermectin is not enough, you have to continue it until a demodex dog has two skin scrapings that come back negative. Poor Jasper! And what a sweetheart, no complaining, just totally accepting that this is his lot in life. We need to take him to our holistic vet as well to get some immune support to boost his entire body while he goes back on the oral ivermectin treatments. We still owe our September vet debt so this emergency room bill was not something we had planned on.

Well . . . for those of you who had been following Maddy's story, watching this video clip is going to make you laugh and then cry with laughter. Because this is classic Maddy, bossing her physical therapist around and telling her "gimme my toy!" "gimme my toy!". You will notice when the toy is dropped in the water, that Maddy's rear legs kick extra super duper hard and she leaps to grab that toy. Maddy had a summer vacation with Camp Cocker volunteer and foster mommy, Elaine (and foster daddy Tom). Well, she worked her charms on them all summer long and they have decided to adopt Maddy. We are so elated and in our wildest dreams, we had never imagined that Maddy would have been given this amazing opportunity to live in a home and be a family pet. For those of you who have not known Maddy's story from the beginning, well sit down, grab a little kleenex (for those good kinds of tears that make you smile) and get to know SPECIAL NEEDS MADDY! You will fall in love just like the rest of us have, with her inspiring story of how having a positive spirit and the will to not accept defeat, has brought her this far! Thank you to Elaine and Tom for taking Maddy to swim therapy all summer long (and for paying for it as well, wow!). Notice the little red radio flyer wagon that Tom bought for Maddy so that she could join Elaine and their other two doggies on their nightly walks. Awww . . . oh and take special note, the toys that Maddy has in her little wagon. Those are HER toys and don't you even think about touching them!

Oh boy, now for the really unpleasant stuff, asking all of you to help spread the word that we once again need donations in a big way. Our September vet debt is still not paid off and we can't take in any more new doggies in October until last month's bills are paid. Oh geez, wouldn't it be nice if animal rescue didn't cost money? You can view the entire month of September and everything that we spent at our general vet (we did have expenses at other vets in town, those smaller bills are all paid off, this is the only vet debt we still have from last month). You can view all of the dogs that were rescued and their medical expenses in the ten page itemization posted HERE. We hadn't realized that our last ChipIn had expired so we started a new one with the Sept vet debt balance as of today of $3958.02. To see all of our expenses including other medical and boarding bills, you can view everything under our "what rescue costs" section on the upper left hand column. Please share this forward because no donation is too small! You can click the "share" button below to pass the message forward. Thank you so woofy much!

We are in need of donations to help with general boarding and remember, we always need foster homes on an ongoing basis. The more dogs out of boarding and into foster homes, the more doggies we can save. What a wonderful way to give back and be of service to the rescued wiggle butts! Can you please help by sharing this message forward to everyone you know? (the share button is below)
