Dress up your wiggle butts and enter our costume contest!

Is it a bird? a plane? superman? but of course not, it is Mister Peanut dressed up for our Halloween Costume Contest! Come on out tomorrow (Saturday 10/23/10) from 10:00am - 1:00pm to enter your dog into the Camp Cocker Halloween Costume Contest! Get your dog's picture taken and we will post your dog's pictures online for voting. (of course, we are not professional photographers, this is for fun and to support our rescue).

To enter your dog into the costume contest, the entry fee is a donation in any amount (whatever you can afford, every dollar counts as we are currently struggling to pay off several thousand in vet debt). The winners will receive a gift basket with fun things like toys and organic dog treats and a free pass for doggie daycare at K9 Loft. What a deal!

Come on out, meet some of our wiggle butts who are up for adoption and join in the fun of having your dog's picture taken. We will be in front of K9 Loft at 14257 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA 91423. If you can't make it in person but would like to enter your dog online, please email us the picture you would like to enter for the costume contest and put in the header of the email "enter me in the Camp Cocker Halloween Costume Contest!".

Also, if you have any old blankets or leashes that you'd like to donate, please bring those along. K9 Loft also sells some really adorable dog costumes, so heck, just show up and you can pick a cute costume up while you are there!

Mister Peanut will be dressed up and waiting for you and hoping you will like him and want to adopt him. He is a senior little dog who is just a doll. He was rescued from a horrific animal hoarding situation and has been through so much. We are looking to find him a very loving and kind home where he can be treated like someone's much loved family member.

Would you like to adopt Mister Peanut? He is waiting for someone to come along to love him. Hang in there Mister Peanut, there is going to be someone out there just as special as you are, to adopt you and love you like you've never known before!

If anything, please stop by and give him a pat on the head and tell him what a good boy he is. When we have adoption events, everyone pays attention to the younger dogs and everyone just walks by Mister Peanut and ignores him. Please help us to spread the word about this special dog and lets make him feel really important tomorrow and give him a lot of attention!

That's right . . . we are not above dressing up dogs and making them work for donations. We need to pay our vet debt off from Sept. and we have two dogs waiting for knee surgery (Alvin and Lay-Lay) and we need to start raising funds for Archie to get his cataract surgery (oh my goodness, does it never end with these cockers and their medical?).

And guess what just happened? We have a donor who has just pledged matching funds for any donation that comes in from now until the end of October (capping at a total donation amount of $2,000). It's the Great Pumpkin Fundraiser Charlie Brown! What an amazing and generous offer and so many wiggle butts are going to now benefit as a result (and with your help). Now lets do right by our Secret Pumpkin and start spreading the word. Look, even little Jasper is showing you the fire he just put out and the house he just saved, so that you will be impressed with him and donate! Please help support our little rescue group so that we can continue to save special medical needs dogs like Jasper.

Please help by sharing our Great Pumpkin Fundraiser plea to everyone you know. You can do this by using the "share" button below. Email it and Facebook it, and ask everyone to please do the same. Thank you so much for supporting animal rescue! We woof you!

oops . . . rescuing wiggle butts runs up vet bills!

Camp Cocker has just rescued yet another dog from the 300 animals confiscated by animal control from the Aqua Dulce, CA animal hoarder. This hoarder was being supplied with animals by many other "rescue" groups. There is a new breed of what we call "reckless rescues", who don't do home checks or vet reference checks or follow ups on what becomes of their dogs. Their only goal is to get a dog out of shelter and give it to anyone who wants it and they collect donations and tell the general public they are "rescuing" dogs. Below is one of the dogs that Camp Cocker had to really rescue, after he was removed from the animal hoarder. His shelter name was Luigi, but we are giving him a fresh start and are now calling him Mister Peanut! We are trying to raise funds for Mister Peanut who needs quite a bit of work and at the same time, our vet debt from Sept. 1st to today, is now due. Please share and forward on to everyone we know, to help us get caught up. Welcome to Camp Cocker Mister Peanut!

WARNING: please be careful of fraud being committed online using ChipIn. Unless you see a ChipIn being promoted on a legitimate website for a legitimate charity, do not give them your money. There are many people who are circulating ChipIns on Facebook and saying it is for animal rescue when really it is just to make money preying on unsuspecting animal lovers. If a ChipIn is not connected to a legitimate charity, be careful!
