a get out of jail card, a new home and a little more fame

Hey there good looking, how did you get in the mix?

Okay so remember how we walked through that shelter the other day and couldn't decide which cherry eye cockers to leave behind and we ended up taking them all? Well, we passed this sad looking cocker mix boy and he accidentally left the shelter with us . . . oops! We saw that face looking out at us and what could we do? He over powered us with his cuteness! His new name is now Crosby and he needs a nice home. Anyone looking to adopt a sweet boy with a freckle face?

Holiday weekend coming up and what a great time to adopt!

ADOPTIONS IN THE WORKS! Dixie is going to her new home in Rohnert Park, CA on Saturday. She never even made it to petfinder, her adopters saw her show up on our blog and wanted her and got their application in fast. Thank you to Camp Cocker volunteer, Kitri for doing their home safety check last weekend. We are currently figuring out if we are going to drive Dixie and meet halfway somewhere. Good thing we have all of the Starbucks stops memorized up and down the 5 freeway. Betty and Sam both have home safety checks pending, one in Gilroy, CA and the other in Pinole, CA. Thank you to Camp Cocker volunteers Monica and Chris for trying to schedule these before Saturday. If all goes well, we might be driving three lucky cockers up towards Northern California this Saturday. Cross your paws everyone!

Here's another treat for those of you in the Shaggy and Sampson Fan Club!

Celebrity Spaniels Strut their Stuff! Here is a nice article in the Los Altos Town Crier (a local newspaper in the home town of one of our adopters). Thank you to Darla and Mike for adopting Shaggy and Sampson and for talking up Camp Cocker Rescue! Shaggy and Sampson continue to win friends and influence people everywhere they go. What a pair of much loved doggies. If you keep double clicking on the article to the right it will get larger so you can read it easier.

here they are . . . Shaggy and Sampson on The Dr. Phil Show!

This post has been revised to show the clip from Dr. Phil and with a new photo just moments after Shaggy and Sampson were adopted this morning, enjoy!
Dr. Phil did a show where he confronts animal abusers - a must see for anyone who supports animal rights. Near the end of the show, Dr. Phil highlights animal rescue and promoting adoption. Paris Hilton walked out on stage with you-know-who! That's right, our gorgeous bonded pair of boys, Shaggy and Sampson. As it turns out, since the taping of the show, Shaggy and Sampson found a lovely pair of adopters who went through great efforts to adopt them. The adoption became official just hours before the show airs. But that's okay, we are hoping that the boys will enjoy their fifteen seconds of fame and that perhaps anyone who visits our website looking to adopt them, might consider our other bonded pair of dogs, Ernie and Bert? There is no shortage of really nice dogs that need homes!

We want to thank Dr. Phil and his staff for inviting Shaggy and Sampson to appear and even more importantly, for promoting animal rescue and telling his audience how rewarding it can be to adopt a rescued dog (we love his dog, Maggie, so cute!). Also, thank you so much to Suzanne from Trinkets and Treasures in Studio City, for all that she has done for Shaggy and Sampson. She has been integral in helping to spread the word that they needed to find a home together. And now Suzanne's hard work has paid off. We could not be happier for Shaggy and Sampson. Below is a picture taken moments after their adoption today. Their new mom and dad, their new doggie grandma, their grandma's cousin, Suzanne, Rena their foster mom, Brenda their dog walking friend and Victoria their dog walking friend (not all in that order). These dogs are SO loved by so many people!

For anyone whom may not have known Shaggy and Sampson's story, here is a video below that will tell you why they have meant so much to so many people. You will understand why we really wanted them to find the best home ever, that would keep them together as a pair. Grab your kleenex wiggle butt lovers, because now that you know the story ends happily, some wet stuff might start rolling down your face.

This is for you John . . . this is for you.

we wore silly hats to wish you a happy doggie mother's day!

Okay, we admit it . . . none of these cutie pies needs homes. We just laughed so hard when our friend Marla, from the English Cocker Spaniel Rescue Club sent this to us that we had to share. How do you get so many cockers and friends to line up in a row, wear silly hats and then pose for a picture? Food of course!
ADOPTIONS ON THE HORIZON!
Shaggy and Sampson are getting adopted on Tuesday by Darla and Mike of Reno, NV. Thank you to volunteer, Lolly, for doing the home safety check today. Thank you to Darla who flew down to Los Angeles a week ago to meet these two wonderful dogs in person. And we are all looking forward to Tuesday when Darla will be coming back to Los Angeles to take Shaggy and Sampson back to their new forever home. Waiting for the right home for these two bonded dogs really paid off. Thank you to Suzanne and Rena and all of the countless volunteers who rallied to help Shaggy and Sampson after their owner, John passed away. We hope John is looking down right now and very happy with whom we picked to give his beloved dogs a wonderful home.

Josie is getting adopted on the 23rd by Susan of Redwood Shores, CA. Thank you to Monica and Stuart for doing the home safety check and thank you to Susan for coming to Los Angeles to adopt Josie and drive her back to her new forever home . . . we can't wait for Josie to begin her new life with you! Pictured on the left is Susan with Stuart the Camp Cocker alumni - if you live in the bay area, you might be lucky enough to have Stuart show up for your home safety check - once Stuart gives you the paws of approval, you are ready for adoption. Stuart even got dressed up in his little home checking outfit, good boy Stuart!

One of the puppies are getting adopted on May 18th by Jane and Peter of Piedmont, CA. Thank you to Monica and Stuart for doing their home safety check last month and thank you to Jane for driving down to Los Angeles to meet Brady and Kramer and open up your nice home to adopt one of them. They are such lovely puppies and we know you are going to have a difficult time choosing between the two of them, so no matter whom you pick, you are going to have a great puppy!

And Cosmo has an adoption pending a home safety check with Diane and Mike in Alameda, CA. Thank you to Monica and Stuart who will be doing the home check next weekend and we can't wait to see if Cosmo has finally found his perfect match!
