Alan

Adopted MARCH 2024!

Alan’s Story:

This adorable little cocker spaniel was one of our Freedom Flyers from South Korea in February 2024. Rescued from a shelter in YangGu, where he was initially found wandering the streets with another dog, this poor guy narrowly escaped euthanasia thanks to our rescue partners known as Cocker Spaniel Friends. Estimated to be no older than two years, and weighing only 18 pounds, Alan had originally been scheduled to travel to America in 2023 but was delayed because his foster family was not sure they could part with him. He is a bit shy at first, but incredibly sweet and playful once he opens up! Alan is sometimes still scared of loud noises, but is getting braver all the time. His foster family in Korea told us that he is an easy going boy who gets along well with other dogs, does great on walks, loves going for car rides, and they’d even potty trained him!

Now known as Mango, his new family shares that the little guy is coming out of his shell day by day. Because he’s been through so much change, they weren't surprised by a slow start; although, he bonded with his new mom pretty quickly and was very good letting her bathe and groom him when they got home. He's not interested in walks yet, and they wonder if he thinks the leash means he's going to be given away again. They’re giving him time. He met the mini Aussie next door but really wasn't interested in her, he just wants to be with his parents.

Mango started out there with a lot of sleeping and decompressing, but is starting to briefly chase toys, so they know there is a silly puppy inside of him that will want to play once he feels more secure. After they get home from running errands, Mango greets his parents with an enthusiastic wagging tail! He is navigating the house more and enjoys exploring the backyard. He likes sleeping in his doggy bed in the bedroom, but they know he’d rather be on their bed since he’d jumped on it as soon as he arrived there! He loves his comfort and is a smart and curious boy. He’s such a sweet and funny little guy when his personality shines through, which is happening more and more.

From Mango’s adopters: “We are totally smitten of course, and hoping Mango knows he is loved and secure and won't have to be jostled around anymore.”
