Amelia

Adopted JUNE 2022!

Amelia’s Story:

Amazing Amelia was born in the care of Camp Cocker Rescue on March 13, 2022. Her mother, Trixie, had been rescued from the SEACCA Shelter in Downey, CA just five days before giving birth to Amelia and her four siblings. Your guess is as good as ours what breed their father was, but the pups were fairly big considering Trixie was a tiny 11 pound terrier! She had a smooth delivery, though, and was a wonderful mommy to Amelia, Hunter, Barry, Lola, and Polly. Amelia had a bit of a rough start in life, as she wasn’t nursing as well as her brothers and sisters and was gaining very little weight. Our vet prescribed regular bottle feedings, and with a little assistance Amelia began nursing more and putting on a healthy amount of weight again. We were so relieved.

Now known as Trixie, like her mama, she has been loving exploring her new home! Her favorite places so far are underneath all the pillows or blankets or on top of the highest place that she can climb to. She also really loves exploring her new backyard. She has relaxed a lot since her first day home and now “attacks” toys larger than her. Tiny, fluffy Trixie is such a gentle, sweet girl with a little bit of an adventurous spirit. You go baby girl!

A while after Trixie’s adoption, her parens had a DNA test done for her. The results show that she is only a 58% match with some her littermates, proving that there were definitely multiple fathers!
