Auggie’s Story:

At about 6 months of age, sweet, playful Auggie was relinquished to Camp Cocker Rescue by a family who could not give him the time and care that an active, growing dog requires. They had purchased the tiny puppy from a backyard breeder and he’d been living outside on their patio. We are so grateful that they decided to relinquish him to us so that we could get him the medical care that he very clearly needed and find him a suitable home.

Auggie has hypoplasia (loss of enamel) on his teeth and the unprotected teeth were beginning to chip away and disintegrate, making it difficult for him to eat. We took Auggie to a veterinary dentist who did a bonding process to protect his remaining teeth and we were stunned at the before and after photos. Auggie was soon able to play with toys again and eat like a normal dog. The loss of his tooth enamel, plus an involuntary neurological twitch of his right arm, both indicate that Auggie was very likely a Distemper survivor as a baby. He is one of the rare puppies that has survived, as there is no cure for Distemper.

This fun cocker boy is having so much fun in his new home! He loves playing and napping with his cat sister, and he’s already made friends with all of the neighborhood pups. His parents love cuddling up to their little guy and tell us that it didn’t take him long at all to make himself right at home there. We’re absolutely thrilled that Auggie is doing so well!
