Bailey

Adopted APRIL 2023!

Bailey’s Story:

Bailey joined Camp Cocker Rescue in December 2022, flown here from South Korea as part of our Freedom Flight program. Camp Cocker had committed to taking eleven cocker spaniels rescued from a puppy mill there, and Bailey arrived in Los Angeles, CA with fellow survivors Harry, Charles, and Mary. He was initially very shy and didn’t want to come out of his crate, even for food or treats. After spending some time in a loving foster home, this darling 10-year-old began to gain some of the confidence he’d been lacking. He is a super sweet guy with a nice, calm energy level. He gets along great with people and he really loves other dogs! Sadly, the dogs had all been de-barked by the breeder in Korea, and Bailey had terrible teeth, as well as limited vision due to long-term untreated dry eye. In order to keep him comfortable, Bailey will need to have medicated eye drops administered several times a day for the rest of his life.

Now living in Illinois where he is affectionately known as Bailey Bean, he has several new cocker spaniel siblings with whom he quickly made friends! In fact, one of his new brothers is none other than Camp Cocker alumni Prince (now known as Benny) class of 2017! Bailey enjoys spending time with his cocker crew and snuggling up with his humans. His family tell us that he is the perfect little gentleman. They have been working hard on his potty training and are happy to report that he’s catching on. They have quite a process for all of his eye meds, but say he takes them like a pro. Also, for a little man with just 3 teeth, the boy can sure eat! He’s learned where the treats are kept and goes right to that spot whenever he comes inside after pottying or just any time for that matter.

Bailey LOVES his toys! His parents have so many toys that the other dogs don’t really care for, but Bailey isn’t picky. He will take one from the toy bin, carry it up to his spot on the couch, then go for another and just keep repeating the process until he’s satisfied with his “stash”. He's definitely more confident and happy on a raised area, like a couch or the bed, where he feels safe and likes to supervise what everyone else is doing. Bailey is still a little nervous on walks but he really comes out of his shell in the yard and his tails wags a lot when he is out there. Imagine living your entire life in a cage and finally having the freedom to run!

From Bailey’s adopters: “He is the sweetest, most gentle, kindest doggy and it has been a smooth transition for him and our pack!
