Beau’s Story:

This handsome teddy bear was relinquished to Camp Cocker Rescue by his previous owners at around 11 years of age. Super sweet and relaxed, Beau has the cutest tail wag you have ever seen. He has some trouble seeing, but that doesn't keep this peppy senior down at all! He takes eye drops for severe dry eye and has blurry vision from years of neglect. He also has trouble hearing certain sounds, but generally seems to hear most things and knows commands like sit, shake, and stay - especially when treats are involved! Beau also has a grade 3 (out of 6) heart murmur and mitral valve disease.

Beau had to have nine teeth extracted and our vet told us that it appeared he’d had never had a dental before in his entire life. Our guess is that Beau had never had any vetting prior to joining Camp Cocker Rescue. It is heartbreaking when these senior dogs come to us with so much catching up to do after years of neglect. Beau hasn't complained about what he's been through, though, and this gentle soul is still trusting of humans.

Beau loves to explore new environments, especially open spaces. He loves going for walks with his new family, and even likes to run for short stretches. He is confident, independent, and is very social and enjoys meeting other dogs. He may be a senior citizen, but Beau is fun and playful with a lot of energy. He often gets mistaken for a much younger dog! His family says he quickly picked out his favorite spots on their couch and is a super duper smart boy.

From Beau’s adopters: “Beau is the best. dog. ever. We are absolutely in love with him.”
