MEET BONBON!

Hi, I’m BonBon - a small sweet Cocker Spaniel girl!  I weigh 19 pounds, and I’m about 12 years old.  A little over a year ago, I was rescued in South Korea, and sent to the waiting arms of Camp Cocker Rescue in America!  This was a big deal for me!  I don’t remember all of the details of my past, but I think that I’ve always lived in a crowded space - maybe in a large cage with other dogs?  I don’t think I was ever anyone’s pet dog because once I arrived in America, it was a whole different experience!

Everyone seemed to like me right away, and they’re really nice to me here!  They give me treats, let me sit on something called a couch, gave me my own bed and some things called toys to play with, and they feed me lots of food!  I really love eating, which is kind of surprising because I’m so little!

Since I’m looking for my forever home, I’ll try to describe myself a little bit.  The Camp Cocker volunteers say that I’m sweet & petite, easy-going, and not a needy dog.  That last part means that I like to be around people, and even prefer to be in the same room with them - but I’m not clingy.  I don’t crave being picked up, but I’m OK when you do.  I like it when people are around, and I’m friendly with strangers and people who visit.  I’m not really outgoing, but I do like to please.  I like other dogs, and I’m told that I’m passive with them.  There are a couple of other dogs in my foster home, and we all get along just fine.  I tolerate being alone, and I’m not a barker!

Because I’m around 12 years old, they call me a senior doggy.  They don’t know my age for sure, but that’s their guess.  But you should know that I do have a spring in my step - especially when I sense a food opportunity!

When I got to America, I had surgery to have my gallbladder removed, and was also diagnosed with early stage Cushing’s disease.  I take liver support supplements, but no medications are required at this time.  Because of the early Cushing’s I have some skin issues, and I get a medicated bath every week - along with some special ointment for areas that might need a little more attention.  I do need to see an internist every 6 months to keep things in check.

I love long walks - up to a mile or more - and exploring my surroundings.  I also enjoy having a back yard.  The Camp Cocker volunteers have had mixed results with what they call potty training.  This is a new concept for me since coming to America, and I think it might require a little more consistent effort on their part.  A regular short walk, or backyard visit, every two hours might do the trick! Or, if there are no other dogs in the house, wee wee pads generally work for me.  I’ve tried diapers but those little tail holes in the back are a problem for me. :(

Yep, I’m an all-around nice, loveable, little girl just looking to find my furever home at long last!  I’m hoping you’ll consider me as your new best friend! I’ll be happy to oblige! 💗

Please apply to adopt me today!
