Dori

Adopted NOVEMBER 2023!

Dori’s Story:

Dori joined Camp Cocker as one of our Freedom Flyers from Mongolia in November 2023. She’d had a cancer diagnosis from a vet who had opened her up to do her spay surgery but canceled the spay because they thought they saw cancer attached to the kidney. Dori, only 5-7 years old at the time, was sent to a foster home for hospice care; however, our rescue partners decided to take Dori to another veterinarian for a second opinion. After her blood work all came back normal, Dori was again scheduled for spay surgery. This vet discovered that she’d had something happen in her uterus in the past, either ectopic pregnancy, absorbed fetal tissue, or a large cyst; the uterus was abnormal and full of pus. They did not notice any tumors, however - no cancer! That spay likely saved Dori’s life.

Dori is an absolute sweetheart of a dog. She’s so beautiful and her face almost looks like she could be part golden retriever; however, a DNA test revealed that she’s actually a cocker poodle mix! She is completely potty trained and crate trained, and although she likes to play with toys, getting attention, belly rubs, and warm cuddles are her very favorite things! She appears to have had a lot of puppies prior to her rescue.

This darling cocker spaniel is doing great in her new home. Her family tells us that she was an absolute dream for the long car ride to their home in Berkeley, CA, super well-behaved and calm for the full trip. Dori settled right into her new home and has been playing with her toys, playing fetch, lounging on the couch with them, and enjoying lots of walks. She seamlessly fits into their family. Dori likes to sleep at the foot of the bed all night and keep her parents nice and toasty with her sweet snuggles.

From Dori’s adopters: “We love her so much and are so grateful we get to be her family!!
