Emily

Adopted JULY 2023!

Emily’s Story:

This beautiful little Freedom Flyer from South Korea joined us in May of 2022. Estimated to be 3-4 years old and weighing only 16 pounds, she had two bad knees and was treated for heartworm prior to traveling to America. Emily needed bilateral knee surgery for luxating patellas, but because she was still testing positive for heartworm after her arrival, she required another heartworm treatment prior to being cleared for surgery. Once Emily tested negative for heartworm, she was spayed and had her first knee surgery done. Her second knee surgery followed a few months later. Unfortunately, it was a complicated surgery that resulted in some post-op complications. The surgeon discovered that Emily had a fractured tibia as a result of the second knee surgery, so her leg was splinted and re-wrapped in an effort to avoid further surgical intervention. Because Emily continued to need strict supervision and specialized care, it was important for her to remain in her foster home until she had fully healed.

After months of careful management and physical rehabilitation, Emily was ready to head to her new home! Her adopter had been visiting her and taking part in her vet visits leading up to her adoption. She couldn't wait to welcome this sweet girl into her life. Now named Eloise, this sweetheart has been stealing hearts wherever she goes. Her adopter tells us that she is a happy little dog with so much energy. She loves toys and is never far from a squeaky ball! It’s been a challenge to find toys she can’t destroy.

Eloise loves to eat and her family has yet to find a fruit or vegetable she doesn’t like. Her mom cooks her meals and is learning much in the process, with Eloise the appreciative beneficiary. Eloise is also very smart and is keeping her adopter on her toes. She loves learning new things, loves her daily walks, and really enjoys meeting new people. One of her favorite activities is visiting her great aunt, who recently turned 98! Eloise adores her aunt and her mom says it’s been so rewarding to be able to bring this joy into her aunt’s life as well. A win-win!
