Gimli

Adopted MAY 2019!

Gimli’s Story:

This sweet little spaniel mix was first housed at the Lancaster, CA animal shelter, before being transferred to the Agoura, CA Animal shelter in July 2018. He was about 6 years of age and had been hit by a car. Camp Cocker was alerted about the handsome boy when we received a call from one of our volunteers saying that there was a major medical dog that needed our help. We took Gimli to a board-certified surgeon for a consult and found out that his pelvis was severely fractured clear across. Unfortunately, too much time had passed and calcification had started, so doing surgery at that point would have caused more complications. Gimli had the most amazing temperament. For how much pain he must have been in, he did no complaining or trying to snap at anyone. He was put on three different pain meds and strict crate rest for six weeks. For several months, he also got acupuncture and laser therapy several days a week to help him heal.

Gimli is as happy as can be with his new momma. She says he is such an easy dog in many ways. He loves going to daycare, playing with his toys, and taking naps by the window. In fact, he and his adopter like to play, nap, repeat all day! He's a little nervous when visiting new places and is scared of loud noises, like fireworks. Gimli is loyal to his adoring family, and he loves to give cuddles and kisses. We think he has the best smile, too!

From Gimli’s adopter: “I’m really glad we are together. He has the cutest little face and the cutest little walk. It always brighten my day.”
