Welcome to Camp Cocker Rescue, Hera!
HERA IS BEING FOSTERED IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA
HERA is a female Spaniel mix Freedom Flyer from Mongolia. She arrived in Los Angeles on August 28, 2024, followed by a few set backs (see updates below.). Hera is currently estimated* to be about 1.5 years old, and weighs 32 lbs.
Hera was dumped out of a car at just a few months of age and then rescued by a good samaritan who brought her to the HZ Shelter. From there she was rescued by our rescue partners in Mongolia to join Camp Cocker and find a new home in America.
Hera has some generalized anxiety and will need some time to adjust to living in a home since living in a boarding facility until joining Camp Cocker. She'll do best in a home with no young children - a quiet home with a yard. We also recommend that she live in a home that does not have adjoining walls with neighbors.
She’ll also need to work with a force-free trainer to help her adjust to her new life.
In January, Hera was about to begin an intensive training program with a force-free trainer to help with her much-needed socialization with real-world experience - training intended to address some of her anxiety-driven issues and lack of puppy socialization - when she suddenly began limping.
We got her to a specialist asap and found that she needed a TPLO surgery to stabilize the knee joint when a critical ligament has ruptured. She’s now post-op and has received physical therapy including massage, acupuncture, muscle-strengthening exercises and weight-bearing therapy - the works!
