Jenny

Adopted NOVEMBER 2023!

Jenny’s Story:

Sweet Jenny was rescued from the Barstow animal shelter in October of 2023. We were concerned about why she was so severely underweight and had a full veterinary workup done. All was normal except for her creatine kinase, which is related to loss of muscle mass and starvation. This poor girl had been so neglected. The shelter had to shave her fur down because she’d been terribly matted. It is unbelievable to us that this beautiful cocker spaniel was in the shelter for two months without getting adopted! Apparently, she’d had some interest but no one followed through because she had a slight kennel cough.

Jenny’s adopters love having her in their family! She has lots of playful energy, in addition to being a sweet cuddlebug. They tell us she is very smart, too, and they feel like they hit the jackpot because she is such a wonderful dog. She is pretty vocal when meeting others on walks, so they might start working with a professional trainer if they can’t correct it without the outside help. They don't want Jenny to scare anyone off who is trying to be friendly, even though she doesn't mean it that way! She does get along swimmingly with their part-time dog, Zora, who belongs to a friend and visits several time a week. Jenny’s parents continue to work on helping her gain more weight, as she is still pretty bony around the hips and spine. Once she has gained enough weight she’ll be able to have her dental work done.
