Kammi

Adopted JUNE 2019!

Kammi’s Story:

In February 2019, this adorable blonde cocker spaniel arrived in Los Angeles, CA, having taken a long flight from South Korea with another little dog, named Dexter. Kammi was about 5 years old, super gentle and sweet, and so very beautiful! Kammi loved to explore the world and smell everything, lay outside soaking up the sun rays, and play with other doggies. She was super affectionate, loved people, and just had a great energy about her.

Named Lola by her adoring new momma, this smartie-pants graduated obedience school having learned to sit, lay down, and shake. People would regularly stop them on the street to say how cute she was, and sweetie Lola brought love and joy wherever she went. She always wanted to be snuggled and loved on, she loved playing fetch, chasing bubbles, and she absolutely loved visiting the dog beach. She liked to hop the waves and play in the surf. She was an active girl and never showed any sign that her back might be bothering her; however, a little over a year after her adoption, she suddenly began having difficulty walking.

Lola was immediately taken to the vet and evaluated by a neurology team. After an MRI and several evaluations, Lola was diagnosed with intervertebral disk disease, type V with myelomalacia. By the end of the day, Lola was completely paralyzed in the lower half and did not show any deep pain reaction. The MRI revealed several disks were affected and the nerves were already showing signs of deterioration. The neurologist did not recommend surgery due to the myelomalacia, which has no treatment available. There was nothing they could do but help with the pain. Lola passed away on August 14th.

Lola’s mom was completely devastated about losing her best friend. She would have done anything for her little girl and misses her terribly. She’s thankful for the wonderful memories and many fun adventures from their year together.

From Lola’s adopter: “She was my perfect buddy. She brought me so much joy and happiness, and I did everything I could to make sure she felt loved in return.
