Koda

Adopted DECEMBER 2022!

Koda’s Story:

Rescued in November 2022, Koda came to us from a puppy mill in South Korea when he was about 5 or 6 years old. He was one of eleven puppy mill dogs that we had committed to fly to America, all of which had been cruelly debarked by the breeder and didn't appear to have ever received any vet care or baths. Koda was also treated for infections in both of his eyes and ears before making the long journey here with another adorable Freedom Flyer, named Coco. Despite his very sad history, Koda is such a nice dog! The filthy caged conditions that he had been suffering in would be just as common for an American puppy mill, this one just happened to be in Korea. We couldn’t turn our back on these dogs. From now on, Koda will never know anything but love and compassion for the rest of his life.

Adorable Koda was a perfect gentleman on the long drive from Los Angeles, CA to his new home up North. In fact, he loves car rides! His mom says he already seems very relaxed there and is enjoying getting to sleep on the bed and play catch with her. He is always ready to help her in the kitchen and has been so good in just about every new situation. He even likes taking walks in the rain once he is properly dressed in his new blue raincoat! She is as bonded to Koda as he is to her, so they are rarely more than two feet apart, but he does just fine home alone when she has to leave him. The two have also been taking training classes together, which will help them to bond even more! Although he’s a little nervous at class, it’s been good socialization for him and he caught on quite quickly. He even gets an A+ on potty training!

Koda’s eyes and ears are now in good shape and he just gets more sweet and adorable every day. His only very slight flaw is that he considers absolutely anything (paper, plastic, cloth) that is accidentally dropped on the floor edible, so his adopter has to fish around in his mouth and pull things out. She has become very careful to make certain everything is out of his reach if she has to leave him alone. She’s so very happy to have this sweet man in her life and believes he feels the same - we are confident that he does!

From Koda’s adopter: “It has been so incredibly special to start bonding with Koda… He is a lovely, lovely dog.
