Lilly

Adopted JULY 2022!

Lilly’s Story:

Lovely little 11 pound Lilly was rescued from the South Los Angeles animal shelter in February 2022. She was limping on her right rear leg and was quite nervous. Not knowing what caused Lilly’s leg injury, we took her directly to an emergency specialty hospital for x-rays. There was no obvious fracture in her leg, so Lilly was prescribed restricted activity for a couple of weeks. When her condition did not improve, we took Lilly to see a board certified surgeon for assessment. She was diagnosed with hip dysplasia (a genetically abnormal formation of the hip socket) and she began weekly visits to a physical therapist.

This sweet, playful terrier was only around 1 year old and had lots of fun energy! She worked hard in physical therapy, but after a few months she was still favoring that leg and was scheduled for FHO surgery. Lilly recovered well and uses the leg much more regularly now. She just needed committed adopters who would continue working with her to build up muscle mass around that hip joint.

Lilly’s new parents are happy to do all they can to help her lead a normal, active life. Lilly bonded with them very quickly and makes sure to get in lots of sweet snuggles with both of them throughout the day! She even sleeps through the night cuddled right up to her mom. Lilly is super smart, too, and her dad can’t wait to begin training. They enjoy taking long walks together as a family, exploring outside and meeting the other neighborhood dogs. We are so proud of how far Lilly has come since her rescue, both physically and with regards to her confidence level. She is proof that a little love goes a long way.
