WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT MABLE:
Mable was rescued, with her sister Minnie, from an elderly couple who could no longer care for them. Their Good Samaritan rescuer took them in hoping to find a rescue group to rehome them - and that’s where we came in!
Mable and her sister were born in September, so are about 6 months old. Mable weighs 17 pounds, is current with her vaccines, and was spayed on 2/9/2023.
Because of a phenomenon of over-bonding called “Littermate Syndrome,” we are not fostering them together, and they won’t be adopted together. They already seem to have adjusted well to this arrangement!
Mable’s foster mom says that she:
- Is friendly, curious, and has a lot of energy - a little timid & shy at first when meeting new people
- Uses the dog door to go outside to potty on her own
- Has learned to potty on leash walks, and rarely potties inside
- Barks when inside and can hear/see others outside
- Is excited and curious to meet other dogs
- Sometimes barks at other dogs on walks
- Likes toys (likes to chew) but prefers playing with other dogs
- Is very playful with other dogs (but a little rough)
- Loves affection and attention
- Gives lots of kisses and likes to cuddle
- Wiggles out of harnesses to escape
- Is a very high jumper! And is very strong.
- Climbs out of ex-pens
- Is excellent in a crate overnight; quiet and sleeps through the night (she often even puts herself to bed in there when it's time). - Will tolerate short periods in the crate during the day, but otherwise will cry loudly and potty in there, shred things, knock over water, etc
UPDATE: We’re guessing that Mable and her sister Minnie are probably a Terrier mix - maybe even part Portuguese Pondego - based on their appearance, abilities, and personalities!
Mable enjoys having another confident dog in her household.
Mable is being fostered in the Los Angeles area.
