Metro

Adopted JUNE 2021!

Metro’s Story:

This friendly cocker spaniel mix had been picked up as a stray while running loose around a gas station. He appeared to be missing his right eye, had a raw rear end from having so much feces caked on him, and was in desperate need of grooming. We could hardly tell what kind of dog was underneath all that matted fur, but he sure was sweet! Once Metro’s stray hold was up at the shelter, Camp Cocker went to work finding him the best possible home. We also had him neutered and microchipped, and the vet who worked on Metro did find a very small eyeball in his eye socket, which she removed to avoid future infection.

Now named Matty, this sweetheart will certainly never ever be neglected again. His new dad says he’s a terrific dog! Once Matty has reassured himself that dad is still in the house, he wanders off somewhere else to nap and does just fine being on his own. Any separation anxiety that he displayed in his first days there were low level, perhaps due to settling in. Matty quickly showed his adopter his talent for climbing up on the sofas and making himself comfortable there, so the furniture was covered with pillows to keep him from doing that until he’d recovered from his neuter surgery.

Matty has two cat siblings in the home, and the hope is that once the cats acclimate to him they'll provide some companionship. His adopter also made plans to take Matty to training classes as soon as his cone can came off - a great way for doggy and adopter to bond!
