Murphy

Adopted JULY 2023!

Murphy’s Story:

This adorable cocker mix has the most beautiful eyes and is a bright ball of sunshine! Rescued from the Apple Valley Animal Shelter in May 2023, the shelter described Murphy as a very sweet boy, handleable, friendly with other dogs, and good with their young volunteers. He was perhaps 2-3 years old at the time of his rescue and full of energy! He likes attention and hasn’t met a person he didn’t like. He jumps up to say hello, but if you give him pets he will gladly sit and receive them. He has a fascination with the shower and tub and it seems he isn’t afraid of water at all. He also loves squeaker toys, mostly so he can chew them, and likes to run and play chase with toys or other dogs.

His adopters tell us that Murphy is doing really well and has made himself quite comfortable in his new home. He hasn't had any accidents thus far, enjoys car rides, and loves going out for walks. He follows them around all day long and if either of them go out he quietly sits by the door waiting for them to return. He enjoys bath time and is very quick to adapt to new settings and learn new routines.

Murphy lets his family know when he needs them to play fetch with him by taking stuff (including slippers, shoes, socks, his bowl, etc.) and running away with it. They’ve learned to let him run away with an item, as he drops it sooner… if they chase him he thinks they're playing with him and then it becomes a task trying to get him to drop it. What a silly puppy monkey! If Murphy starts to gnaw on their hands, they simply distract him with fetch. A few rounds of this (tug-of-war included in every round) and he is tired!
