Nabi’s Story:

Nabi was one of our Freedom Flyers from South Korea in September 2019 when South Korea’s largest private shelter, known as Aerinwon, was shut down by law enforcement officials. Aerinwon had been in operation for 20 years and hoarded up to 3,000 dogs there at a time. Nabi was one of 1,143 dogs evacuated from the filthy, devastating conditions.

Nabi was at the bottom of the pack hierarchy in Aerinwon, which means she was bullied and often attacked by other dogs. When our partners at Korean K9 Rescue saw the photo of Nabi, in which she was trembling at the corner of the cage, they couldn't ignore her signs of fear and had to rescue her. At their rescue center, Nabi developed separation anxiety, was very jumpy, and would freeze up when walking. It took several months of working with Nabi for her to be ready for adoption. She had also had litters at the shelter and had mammary tumors.

Now Nabi enjoys getting kisses and cuddles from her new mom and begins to feel safe. She even loves going to the park to socialize with other dogs and gets so excited as soon as they walk to the car because she knows where she’s headed! Nabi has really come out of her shell and is confident approaching new people.

From Nabi’s adopter: “Nabi fits so well into my life and as a part of the family. She is a constant delight with such a spunky personality... I love her so much and could not imagine my life without her. Big thanks to you all at Camp Cocker, Nabi was the perfect fit.”
