Pepsi

Adopted DECEMBER 2023!

Pepsi’s Story:

This adorable cocker boy was rescued from South Korea as part of our Freedom Flight program in December of 2023. At 3-5 years of age, Pepsi was rescued from a puppy mill out in the middle of nowhere. The woman who discovered the place had actually been lost and she heard the dogs barking and reported it. As with most puppy mills, the conditions were horrendous and the dogs spent their entire lives in filthy cages. It’s possible that Pepsi is the father of Apple or Mango, two other cocker spaniels we had also rescued from there. Pepsi is such a lovely dog. He is quiet, playful, and likes to follow people around. He’s always eager for a treat and is a sweetheart with other dogs and even with cats!

Pepsi had much difficulty walking on the ground after his rescue because his back legs were so atrophied from having never left his cage before. It was heartbreaking. He also had an injury to one of his paws that is taking some time to heal. At one point, he had to be hospitalized due to a high white blood cell count, receiving I.V. fluids and antibiotics during his stay. Exploratory surgery revealed nothing inside the paw, but something is causing a deep infection. Pepsi was also treated for heartworm, which he’d tested positive for. We’re so sad that Pepsi has to go through this after having already survived the trauma of living in a puppy mill, plus undergoing treatment for heart worm prior to traveling to America.

Now known as Goma, this darling boy has three kitty siblings, named Totoro, Teto and Tofu, whom he gets along with brilliantly. He and the cats regularly cuddle together and they even groom him! Goma regularly goes to work with his mom, where he is very popular with the clients. His parents are looking forward to taking him to the local dog beaches and dog parks, and enjoying lots of long walks together. Goma gets at least four walks a day and they’re currently working on his potty training, which has improved greatly.

Because his adopters are friends with Goma’s former foster family, he sometimes gets to play with this foster siblings - how fun! The dogs have a great time together, especially puppy Walnut, class of 2023, who looks up to Goma and follows him around like his little shadow. Goma also enjoys playing with the neighbor dogs when he sees them out and about. He is otherwise mellow, loves to snuggle, and regularly follows his parents around the house. He loves people and is such a friendly boy.

From Goma’s adopters: “We love him and are very happy we have him!
