Piper’s Story:

Rescued from the Devore San Bernardino Animal Shelter in March 2019 after she’d been picked up as a stray, this sweet girl was extremely timid and skittish. When Camp Cocker had her examined by our vet, it was discovered that Piper had recently given birth and was still lactating. We had volunteers looking for her puppies all over the area where she’d been picked up, and even put up fliers hoping to find them, but sadly her babies were never found.

Piper was extremely depressed when she was first rescued. With the help of very patient foster parents and the gentle dogs in her foster home to guide her, Piper slowly became less fearful. Over time, she began to ask for affection instead of shying away from it, and started loving long walks and occasionally even playing. Piper was also suspected to have Glaucoma in both of her eyes, as they appeared clouded and bulging, but after her last recheck, Piper was declared Glaucoma-free!

Her new dad loves her so much and says Piper is the sweetest little girl. Some of her favorite things include going for walks around the neighborhood and snuggling up with him at night. She likes sleeping on the foot of his bed, but will eventually make her way closer to him throughout the night. Her daddy showers her with hugs and kisses every morning, which she absolutely loves. She has turned into his little shadow, which he doesn’t mind one bit. She is filled with curiosity and loves to stop and stare at other dogs during their walks or watch children play in the distance.

From Piper’s adopter: “I couldn’t be any happier with her in my life. She’s definitely given me a purpose and showed me what a true companion is all about.“
