Turtle

Adopted OCTOBER 2021!

Turtle’s Story:

Turtle was rescued from the Riverside Animal Shelter in September 2021 after he’d been hit by a car. This poor guy had a badly fractured femur and wasn't able to walk. Immediately after pulling him from the shelter, we took him to a specialty emergency hospital where a board certified surgeon did a complicated surgery that was hours in length. They had to carefully line up all of the broken bone fragments around an implant plate and use wires to keep everything stable. Turtle appeared to be healing up well, but a few days later he was back in the hospital with a fever and oozing incision site. The vet did a second surgery to open his leg back up and found a raging infection. We were told that he could have gone septic had he not returned to the hospital when he did. How scary! This boy is so incredibly sweet and we just want him to be healthy and happy.

After doing a great job of healing and impressing everyone at his physical therapy appointments, Turtle was adopted by a wonderful Los Angeles family. He is now named Nigel and has a cute doggy sister, named Cleo, who was also rescued from Camp Cocker back in 2019! Turtle loves to snuggle with his family more than anything in the world. He is always smiling and loves to give them kisses. He does have some nervous anxiety around new people, but he seems very happy and content in his new home and is making lots of progress there. He’s learning the ropes and his family has plenty of patience for his journey. He and Cleo (formerly Noel) are bonding and love to play and snuggle together.

From Turtle’s adopters: “He is the sweetest boy ever and very, very easy to love.”
