VESPER is one of 3 dogs we’ve recently rescued in serious need of ear ablation surgery! DONATIONS ARE URGENTLY NEEDED !!

WHAT VESPER’S FOSTER PARENTS HAVE TO SAY:

Vesper is the sweetest older gentleman. He was left at the shelter in a state of neglect. His fur was so matted it had to be shaved off, and his skin was in rough shape too. He was blind from untreated glaucoma and deaf from long-term ear infections. He needed a bilateral ear ablation. That's where the ear is too damaged to be saved, so the vet removes the inside part of the ear and sews everything up so that the dog is at least out of pain. So far, Vesper has had one of the two ear ablation surgeries he will need.

With all of that, Vesper had plenty of reasons to not trust humans, but he is the absolute nicest dog. His tail is constantly wagging, and he loves nothing more than to be petted. He will even knock your hand with his snout to ask for more pets. He is permanently blind and deaf, so he gets around using his sense of smell and feeling with his paws. He doesn't mind other dogs, but also doesn't interact with them much, probably because he can't read their body language. Vesper takes lots of naps and would be a great dog for someone who is looking for a lower-energy cuddle buddy. We love Vesper, and we know his future adopter will love him too!

  • Vesper is a male Cocker Spaniel, is estimated to be 10-12 years old, weighs 23 pounds, is blind and deaf - and he’s a very sweet boy!

  • He is recovering nicely from his late October 2nd ear ablation surgery - and from the administration of special eye drops that have helped to reduce the pressure in Vesper’s eyes.

  • UPDATE: Vesper has recently been showing signs of confusion, possibly dementia, and we don’t want to confuse him further with another move. So, for the time being, we’re considering him a hospice foster while we closely monitor his health and behavior.

  • 9/22/23 - Vesper has been lovingly hospice-fostered for two years, and has just passed over the rainbow bridge. Farewell, sweet boy! 💔
