WELCOME TO AMERICA VINNY!

5/28/23 UPDATE:

FREEDOM FLYER Vinny landed in Los Angeles after a long plane ride from Mongolia. He is estimated* to be about 4-6 years old and weighs 32 pounds. Be sure to read the 1/22/23 UPDATE below for good information about Vinnie’s personality from our rescue partners in Mongolia. One additional note is that he was super friendly with strangers when we took him to his veterinary appointment.

*Please note that any age provided is only an estimate, based on veterinary examination!

1/22/23 UPDATE:

From Rob & Kim, the movers and shakers of this Mongolian rescue partnership with Camp Cocker Rescue:

Vinny was one of the original strays brought to the newly-founded Huurhun Zulzaga shelter in Mongolia in 2020. He spent more than 18 months there, chained to a small wooden dog house, eating a mix of intestines and noodles. He survived winter outdoors in the coldest capital city in the world thanks to his incredibly thick coat of hair, which had grown into a wild, matted mess.

Vinny’s energetic, positive, playful attitude remained intact through it all. Vinny is a total riot - he has LOTS of positive energy, and he brightens the mood wherever he goes. He is good with adults and children, and he loves to play with toys, especially balls. He’ll wrestle and play tug of war, and he has a hilarious play growl. He has no problems with other dogs, and tends to ignore them.

Vinny is fun, friendly, and healthy. He’s also relatively young - we estimate that he’s about five years old. This resilient guy has been through a lot and is still a beacon of positivity. He would make a great family pet.

5/20/23 - VINNY’S READY TO FLY TO AMERICA!

In the fall of 2022, Camp Cocker committed to taking in seven cocker spaniels & cocker mixes from Mongolia.

The process is quite extensive because Mongolia is on the list of countries that the C.D.C. has on a watch list for rabies.   So each dog must go through a lengthy process in order to get approved to enter the U.S.

It can take up to five months (or longer!) to get permission, after two rabies vaccines, a blood draw, a titer test and lots of paperwork.

We at Camp Cocker Rescue believe that compassion has no borders and just because Vinny happened to be born into a situation where his options were limited, doesn't mean he isn't worth being rescued.
