Whiskers

Adopted MARCH 2024!

Whiskers’s Story:

Whiskers was one of our Freedom Flyers from Mongolia in February 2024, and he’s such a sweet guy! He even helped his rescuers there train their puppy, who was scared of dogs she didn't know. Estimated to be 7-8 years old, he had been rescued by the Huurhun Zulzaga shelter and needed to lose at least five pounds. His Mongolian name translated to “bearded old man” which is why they began calling him Whiskers. This energetic cocker needed structure and training, but he’s such a cutie pie and so friendly.

Whiskers had totally ignored the cat in his foster home, but was super excited about the cats in his new home. His adopters met with a local trainer who was able to tell them that Whiskers is not aggressive or prey-driven towards the kitties, just extremely excited! The trainer was able to teach them a variety of techniques, and they’re thrilled to help Whiskers learn to be the best cat-loving sweety boy they know he can be. He also has a nice cocker spaniel brother, named Sherlock, who is about his same age. The two dogs get along great! They enjoy playing fetch in the backyard and going for short runs together.

Whiskers absolutely loves going for walks and, once he's leashed up, he starts pawing at the door to get going. He also loves stuffed toys, and when he gets excited he tap dances his feet. He initially had some nervousness that was manifesting as boisterousness, but this good boy mellows out more each day.
