WELCOME TO CAMP COCKER RESCUE ZIMBA!

Grandpa ZIMBA is the sweetest, toothless, little old man! Gentle little Zimba has such a sweet temperament and is friendly & easy to handle. We could see that the sound of the barking dogs in the shelter was definitely frightening him. The shelter is no place for a senior dog! Zimba is estimated to be 12-16 years old and weighs 15 pounds.

Zimba was an owner relinquish at the Harbor Los Angeles City Shelter in San Pedro, and was on the euthanasia list. We were able to rescue him minutes before the shelter closed and to quickly get him in to see our vet for medical evaluation.

Zimba’s radiology report shows evidence of heart disease with heart enlargement and arterial dilation. It also shows IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) which is visible via his rounded back and his awkward gait.

Zimba has now been seen by a cardiologist to help guide us in providing him with appropriate care & comfort. He’s been diagnosed with congenital pulmonic stenosis, which would mean that he has had this condition for his entire life. He’s doing pretty well considering he’s a senior! The cardiologist advises against any invasive procedures and has prescribed meds and supplements to help keep him comfortable. He’s happy, friendly, and loves attention!

UPDATE 12/1/23: As more medical issues have recently come up for Grandpa Zimba, we’ve decided the best thing to do for him now is to provide a safe and loving hospice home for him - where he’s familiar, comfortable, happy and loved!

If you’d like to help us support Zimba with a donation, we’d appreciate your donation! Even a small donation would be very much appreciated!

We rely on support in the form of small donations and volunteers. Please consider donating any amount to help us meet our rescue expenses which include medical, transport, and general care for rescued dogs awaiting adoption!
