Artichoke’s Story

Rescue Date: March 4, 2025

Origin: LA East Valley Animal Shelter

Artichoke was rescued from the East Valley Animal Shelter with a fractured right leg in need of immediate surgical repair!  He was taken to the VCA WLA for fracture repair or his right radius/ulna with a bone plate and screws on 3/6/25.

He’s been discharged to his foster home and is now in crate rest for 4 weeks post-op, followed by an xRay, then activity restriction for approximately 3-4 months. No running, jumping, rough play, stairs, furniture, free roam of the house, or off leash activity are allowed while on activity restriction.

We’re not sure what breeds he might be, but we think he looks most like a Chi-Spaniel (a chihuahua-cocker spaniel mix). Whatever the combination, he’s a sweet, friendly, and adorable little love bug!
