Choo Choo’s Story
Rescue Date: June 7, 2026
Origin: South Korea
Choo Choo’s foster family has a LOT of great things to say about him. (Be sure to see their comments just below.)
He was rescued from a puppy mill by our partners, Cocker Friends Korea, with seborrhea/oily skin condition, ear mites, dry eye, and dental disease with fractured left canines, all of which are currently being treated.
Nothing will make this little guy happier than to settle into his new furever home. We hope that can happen for him soon!
**Choo Choo’s Fosters have Alot to Say**
1. How is Choo Choo with people?
Choo Choo has exceptional social skills and absolutely loves people. Even with strangers, he greets everyone warmly without fear. When he sees people, he often rolls onto his back immediately for belly rubs and affection. He enjoys petting and physical affection, though he is still learning how to actively ask for cuddles or kisses himself. Occasionally he gently licks people to show affection.
2. How is he with other dogs?
He is very social and curious around other dogs. At dog parks he generally does very well and does not cause problems. He is still learning how to properly play with dogs but always wants to greet and interact. Early on, he occasionally attempted mounting behavior with certain dogs, but if the other dog showed discomfort, he stopped immediately. He has never mounted the foster’s resident dog.
He tends to ignore minor drama or reactive behavior from other dogs and stays cheerful and carefree. However, if another dog aggressively challenges him first, he will confidently stand up for himself instead of hiding. Because of his playful energy and excitement, he can unintentionally annoy other dogs by bumping into them or rushing ahead. Currently, “sit” and “wait” training have helped reduce excitement around food and treats. He is not afraid of large dogs and remains relaxed even when other dogs nearby become excited or reactive.
3. How does he behave when left alone?
ChooChoo has no separation anxiety. Because he previously underwent debarking surgery, he cannot make much sound even if he tries to bark when deliveries arrive. When left alone, he usually naps or explores the house like a little adventurer. He is extremely curious and enjoys shredding crinkly items such as paper, boxes, and household objects if accessible.
4. How is he on walks?
He LOVES walks. When the harness comes out, he becomes so excited that he rolls over happily, which actually makes putting the harness on difficult. 😄 He prefers confidently walking and exploring over slow sniffing walks. He seems to have had very little previous walking experience, so every outing feels exciting and new to him. He has no fear of leashes and is still learning leash manners. Even when corrected, he remains cheerful and eager to follow along. One funny note: he still does not fully understand glass doors and has bumped into them several times.
5. Potty habits
He can do both indoor and outdoor potty. Initially he strongly preferred outdoor potty, but now he comfortably goes wherever needed. Indoor potty pad training is still in progress, so he currently wears diapers indoors. He does not mark territory and urinates calmly without lifting his leg.
6. Favorite toys or activities?
Choo Choo LOVES stuffed toys. Every day he picks different plush toys from his toy basket and carries them around proudly. He does not fully understand tug games yet — if someone pulls the toy, he simply lets go. He especially enjoys shredding noisy/crinkly objects such as paper towel rolls, notebooks, or cardboard boxes. He also likes balls, although retrieving them is unreliable. (Maybe 1 successful return out of 20 throws 😄) He may not have had many opportunities in his past life to use his paws for play or enrichment. He never demands attention or throws tantrums to play.
7. Any fears or sensitivities?
He is generally very resilient and easygoing. If a loud correction noise is made (such as clapping with an empty plastic bottle), he becomes startled and runs away. When another dog tries to take a toy he is playing with, he prefers to keep the toy himself rather than give it up. However, he never growls or shows threatening behavior.
8. How is he with a crate/kennel?
Choo Choo sees the crate as a safe and comfortable space. He understands both verbal and hand commands for “go inside” and enters willingly. He naps comfortably inside and is smart enough to sometimes hide there when he suspects medication time is coming.
9. Grooming / handling / medical care
At the veterinary clinic, he enjoys watching other dogs and receiving attention from people. Recently, after repeated vet visits, he has started becoming slightly nervous on the examination table — but he does not shake, bite, or panic. He dislikes baths and blow drying, but quietly tolerates them by lying down calmly in a corner. He also tolerates ear cleaning very well despite not enjoying it. Handling his paws causes no reaction at all, even when air is blown on his paw pads. He tolerates tooth brushing well and allows easy oral exams without aggression. Even intimate hygiene care around the genital or anal area is possible without resistance. He is “the gentlest dog in the world.”
10. Any bite history or guarding behaviors?
Absolutely none. Even during stressful situations such as medications, bathing, dental care, or awkward handling by inexperienced humans, he only rolls over or tries to avoid the situation gently. He has never snapped, growled, or shown teeth. He also takes treats very politely without accidentally biting fingers. One minor note: When staying in a private cabin space at a dog playground, he barked protectively one time when unfamiliar dogs approached the space. (Because of his prior debarking surgery, little sound came out.)
11. Appetite
Excellent appetite and highly food motivated. He eats all food very well without being picky. Initially he ate too quickly, so a slow feeder bowl was introduced. He is now learning to chew more calmly. He previously had significant dandruff and flaky skin, but this improved greatly with medicated baths and skin-supportive food. He may have mild food allergies because he occasionally scratches around his chin area. He loves treats, vegetables, and fruits (except sour fruits). When given a completely new type of treat, he carefully studies it first before eating it — showing his thoughtful and intelligent personality. Because he is clever and food motivated, reward-based training works extremely well. Owners should be careful not to leave wrappers or food containers accessible because he is smart and tall enough to secretly steal them.
12. Energy level
Very active, playful, and intelligent. Every day he pulls out what feels like “100 toys” from the toy basket and scatters them around while playing. His curiosity is endless, so paper bags, delivery packages, and interesting objects left within reach may become “investigation projects.”
13. Biggest charm?
Even when trying very hard to objectively find flaws while writing this, I could only think of good things about him. He’s basically a unicorn.
Choo Choo has the classic handsome Cocker Spaniel face with a beautiful muzzle and excellent body structure. His personality is endlessly optimistic, resilient, and cheerful. Because he likely had very limited experiences in his past life, many things are still brand new to him — yet he learns incredibly quickly and absorbs training like a sponge. He is intelligent, adaptable, emotionally stable, and eager to coexist with humans. Although he loves people deeply, he does not demand attention constantly. Instead, he quietly stays near his humans, wagging his tail and carrying toys around like a loyal little bodyguard. We strongly believe that no matter where he goes or what family he joins, Choo Choo will adjust beautifully and live happily because of his exceptionally flexible and positive temperament.
Choo Choo is scheduled to arrive in Los Angels on June 7, 2026.
