Gina’s Story

Origin: Cocker Friends Korea

Gina arrived in Los Angeles on December 21, 2025, after thriving in foster care with Cocker Friends Korea (formerly known as The Cocker Moms).

Here’s what her rescuers & fosters have to say about her:

Gina is a an approximately 8-year-old female Cocker Spaniel rescued in Korea, who has proven to be one of the most resilient and spirited girls in our care. Despite her age, Gina’s energy, curiosity, and intelligence make her seem more like a mischievous puppy than a senior.

She recently underwent successful patella luxation surgery, followed by a careful rehabilitation program, and has now made a full recovery, is maintaining a healthy weight of 21 pounds, and her mobility is excellent. She is playful, affectionate, and full of personality.

Though estimated to be 8 years old, Gina moves, thinks, and plays like a much younger dog. Her foster describes her as “a small genius who learns faster than most humans.”  She is an incredibly bright, observant, and resourceful girl — her foster affectionately calls her a “monkey in a dog’s body.”

Gina is not only affectionate and eager for human attention but also very clever at figuring things out. She has been known to open drawers, climb furniture, and even use objects as “steps” to reach what she wants! This intelligence makes her a joy to interact with — though she definitely keeps her foster family on their toes.

Despite her cheeky antics, Gina is deeply affectionate, loves being close to her humans, and has a calm, loyal temperament when indoors. Gina is a shining example of resilience, recovery, and intelligence.

Charming everyone she meets, she’s proven herself to be an extraordinary survivor — full of life, wit, and heart. Her story embodies what rescue is truly about: giving a second chance to a dog who refuses to give up on joy. Cocker Friends Korea is deeply grateful to Camp Cocker Rescue for supporting Gina’s journey and helping her move toward her next chapter — one filled with laughter, love, and plenty of clever mischief. She is ready to find a permanent family who can appreciate both her intelligence and her loving nature — a home that values her curiosity and can keep her engaged both mentally and physically. She’s going to require a secure home environment, due to her ability to open drawers and doors.
