Gretchen’s Story

Rescue Date: February 6, 2016

Origin: Los Angels Baldwin Park Shelter

Gretchen entered a high kill shelter (Baldwin Park/Los Angeles) after being hit by a car.  Her front right arm was damaged and she needed reconstructive surgery.   Once we rescued her, we rushed her to the orthopedic surgeon who reconstructed the tendons in that arm and repaired the fractured elbow.

Gretchen had her surgery on February 8th and her rehab was a 12-week process. After her cast was cut away, Gretchen was fitted with a brace that she wore to stabilize her arm as she puts weight on it.

Once she had the brace to wear, Gretchen was able to start her physical therapy to exercise and build strength.

Check out this video below to watch Gretchen and her PT buddy Dixie walk on the underwater treadmill!

Gretchen has since made a full recovery and is running circles around her foster pups and their foster backyard!

Gretchen is a strong lady and we knew it the second we laid eyes on her.  She is currently waiting for her forever home.

As you can see she is a gorgeous red  Cocker Spaniel with a bit of a beautiful hound dog face. Those eyes of hers and long ears– just gorgeous!

Gretchen is goofy and silly, and bonds quickly to her people.  We estimate Gretchen to be approximately 4 years old, and she will do well in a home where she’ll get lots of affection and a stable predictable routine (she thrives on routine)
