Oreo’s Story

Origin: North Central Los Angeles Shelter
Dear Oreo was pregnant and non-ambulatory with no obvious injuries when we rescued her from the shelter with plans for a C-section to deliver the puppies.
We rushed her to our veterinarian and were able to get her a neuro exam that showed no feeling in the lower half of her body. Follow-up Xrays revealed a fractured back and what appeared to be a severed spinal cord. An ultrasound was provided for the puppies and showed organs not yet formed, indicating that the puppies were not viable. Oreo was euthanized on the day of her rescue. 💔🌈
