Pluto’s Story
Rescue Date: June 24, 2024
Origin: Owner Relinquish
Pluto is an owner-relinquished Cocker puppy, just 4-weeks old when we organized a volunteer driver-relay to rescue him in Fresno on June 24, 2024. He had what appeared to be a badly injured paw and an odd growth on his collarbone. We immediately took him to the VCA specialists where the diagnostic process began. Blood tests, imaging, biopsies and more! And now . . .
BABY PLUTO HAS A FANTASTIC UPDATE! His biopsies came back, and no “c” word and no autoimmune disease. He simply has an extreme case of a fungal infection (ringworm) and he is currently getting anti-fungal medication and daily chlorhexidine cleanings on his foot and his collarbone area.
Sadly, he can’t play with other dogs while he is contagious but he is getting human handling. We are currently taking adoption applications for Pluto but will not be making any decisions until he is cleared for health.
We hope to find him a home with another young dog to help make up for lost time while he has been in this isolation. He is like a Covid baby, in a quarantine bubble and he is missing out on a very important time in his life when he should be socializing and playing with other puppies or dogs.
He is only eight weeks and two days old and is smaller in size than what we might expect a cocker spaniel to be. We are thinking he might be a cocker mixed with a smaller breed?
This sweet little puppy with the big heart heard that we are near our matching campaign goal and he wanted to do his part. He set up a little snack cart to help raise donations, how thoughtful is he?
