Legacy Giving

Your love for the dogs. Your values. Your lasting mark on the world.

Every dog we rescue, every surgery scheduled, every foster home arranged, every moment of healing, is made possible because people like you choose to show up.

A legacy gift ensures that mission carries on, even when you’re no longer able to give in other ways.

Here’s what legacy giving makes possible:

  • Lifesaving surgeries for dogs who would otherwise be euthanized
  • Long-term care for senior dogs and those with complex medical needs
  • A rescue that can say “yes” when others turn them away

Ways to Leave a Legacy

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to legacy giving. Below are common options. We encourage you to speak with your attorney, financial
advisor, or estate planner to find what’s right for your situation.

Bequest in Your Will or Living Trust

The simplest and most common legacy gift. A bequest means including Camp Cocker Rescue
in your will or living trust so that a portion of your estate supports the dogs after your passing. It
costs nothing now, and you can change it at any time.

Beneficiary Designation

One of the easiest legacy gifts requires no attorney at all. Simply name Camp Cocker Rescue
as a beneficiary, in full or as a percentage, on any of the following:

  • Retirement accounts (IRA, 401(k), 403(b))
  • Life insurance policies
  • Bank or investment accounts (sometimes called a “TOD” or “POD” designation)

IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

If you are age 70½ or older, you may be able to transfer funds directly from your IRA to Camp Cocker Rescue as a Qualified Charitable Distribution, up to the IRS annual limit. A QCD counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) but is not included in your taxable income, making it a tax-efficient way to give now.

We’d Love to Thank You

If you’ve already included Camp Cocker Rescue in your estate plans, or you’re considering doing so, we’d be honored to hear from you. You are under no obligation to notify us, but when you do, it gives us the chance to say thank you, and to welcome you into a very special group
of people who are making sure our work continues.
Sharing your plans also helps us understand the long-term impact our community is making, so we can plan for the future of the dogs in our care.
From the blind senior dogs to the puppies born in shelter parking lots… every single dog we rescue represents a community of people who refused to look away. A legacy gift says: “I want that to continue.”
Thank you for thinking about the future of these dogs. We are grateful beyond words.
