WELCOME TO CAMP COCKER RESCUE WOODY!

• We picked up Woody from the Burbank Shelter on March 28, and immediately headed to our vet.

• Woody is a very sweet spaniel mix with short legs, owner relinquished, and said to be a young adult. Our vet will provide a better estimate after she sees him. He clearly has allergy issues that have impacted his skin, and he is not believed to have ever been seen by a dermatologist. We’ve made an appointment for a dermatology consult on April 21, now delayed to May 5.

• 3/28/23 UPDATE: Other than his allergy issues, and the resulting skin issues, Woody had a great checkup with our vet today. He’s estimated* to be about 6 years old, and he weighs 22 pounds.

• He’s sweet-natured, energetic, easy to handle, and gentle when taking treats!

• 4/18/23 UPDATE: Woody appears to be house trained! No potty accidents in the house!

• He met a cat at the vet’s office, and was not too sure about that. So we’re not sure how well he’d do with cats.

• Stay tuned here - and on our social media - for more photos & videos, as well as an update following his visit to the *dermatologist on April 21 - now delayed to 5/5/23* to address his allergies.

• 5/5/23 UPDATE: Woody has been seen by the dermatologist, tested for allergens, and prescribed immunotherapy drops that will desensitize his immune system to those allergens. Immunotherapy drops are easy to administer orally, and have proven to be effective in greatly reducing the allergic response. The treatment generally takes 3-4 months to become effective, and is generally long term. In the meantime, regular medicated baths have already started to help Woody’s skin to heal from scabs & hair loss due to excessive itching. He’s looking so much better!
