We rescue the dogs that need us most – Cocker Spaniels and other small breeds with complex medical conditions, trauma, or urgent needs. We go above and beyond to give them the care they deserve and help them find the forever families who will never give up on them.
Camp Cocker Rescue began with one big heart and a simple belief: that no dog is too broken to be loved. We’re a passionate team of fosters, volunteers, and animal advocates who treat every dog like family. We stick around for the hard stuff because healing takes time, and no one should go through it alone.
How Adoption Works at Camp Cocker Rescue
We’re not here to rush you – we’re here to help you find the dog that’s truly the right match for your home, your heart, and your lifestyle. Our adoption process is thoughtful and supportive, with plenty of guidance along the way.
Here’s how it works:
- Fill Out an Application
Tell us about your lifestyle, experience, and what kind of dog you’re looking for. It takes about an hour to complete and helps us find your perfect match! - Phone Interview & Vet Checks
We’ll talk more about your expectations, your home, and any specific dogs you’re interested in. We also contact your vet (and landlord, if applicable). - Home Safety Check
We’ll do a quick home walkthrough via video (or in person if local) to make sure your space is safe, secure, and dog-ready. - Meet the Dog
Once approved, we’ll help you schedule a time to meet one or more dogs in foster care. Most adopters come ready to go home with their new pup! - Adoption & Support
After the match is made, you’ll complete the adoption and donation. You’ll also get lifetime support from our team – we’re just a message away if you need help.

Ravi really is so trusting and seeking a human connection. It’s clear that he has a lot of catching up to do from the years of neglect.
We wonder when was the last time anyone touched him? Or told him he is the goodest boy? 🥹
He is healing up nicely after a dental (seven extractions, ouchie) and neutering.
Next up on Ravi’s to do list is an ophthalmology consult scheduled in early February. 🤞🏼🤞🏼 We are crossing the paws he might be a candidate for cataract surgery.
We still cannot believe he is the same dog we met at the shelter. (to see pics/video, search #CampCockerRavi)

And now for a good news update . . . Shaggy has been officially adopted and we are SO happy for him!
Shaggy’s journey to find his forever home began a year ago in Mongolia. He was freezing on the streets and a Good Samaritan invited him to get into the warmth of his car.
Stray dogs in Mongolia rarely have good outcomes.(you can search #CampCockerShaggy for details of how Shaggy’s life may have ended)
In June, Shaggy flew from Mongolia to South Korea where our rescue partners at Cocker Friends Korea so graciously offered him one of their valuable foster home spots.
When Shaggy arrived to Camp Cocker, taped onto his crate was a love letter from his Korean foster mom, that was given to his new American adopters.
Yep, it makes us weepy when we think about the kindness of people from all over the world, who care so deeply about helping our dogs. 🥹

It’s remarkable how similar our adoptable dog Cory (pictured) looks to our newbie boy Ravi. Cory is soooo handsome!
He is really patient at the ophthalmologist rechecks as well. The goodest boy ever. 🥹
Cory, the puppy mill survivor is an older gentleman who has been getting passed over for adoption.
We think he is perfectly imperfect!
Cory is on eye medication to manage his dry eye. His left eye is blind from cornea damage as a result of an ulcer.
He is just starting to learn how a domestic dog gets to live after years of being in a cage. 😢
His temperament is really nice, he has calm energy, is affectionate and loves people. He has been starved for human interaction his entire life and he is simply grateful for even the smallest amount of attention.
We recently learned that Cory is less likely to potty indoors when there are no other dogs in the home which is amazing!

Camp Cocker Rescue is based in Los Angeles and we do adopt out all over the U.S. mainland. However we do not waive any steps of the adoption process.
Out of state adopters must complete the same exact screening process as anyone else and then travel to where the dog is being fostered to meet the dog in person.
Cory is located in the Los Angeles region.
What we recommend is that serious adoption inquiries looking to adopt a cocker spaniel, please submit an application and then be open to our suggestions about which dog(s) might be the best match for you.

P.S. A common question we get asked is “how old”. We never know and it is always a guess. Cory could be eight to ten but every vet may have a different age guess. We encourage adopters to not overly focus on age. A nice dog is a nice dog and that should be the best way to evaluate a dog’s worthiness for adoption, right?
