Where “Perfectly Imperfect” Cocker Spaniels Find Their Perfect Match

Every day, senior dogs with medical needs are overlooked, left behind, or face being put down simply because they require extra care. At Camp Cocker Rescue, we believe every dog deserves to live their best life with a family who loves them just the way they are.

Fall in Love with a Wigglebutt

These aren’t just dogs—they’re survivors. With every tail wag, they remind us what it means to heal, hope, and trust again. Meet the adoptable cocker spaniel mixes looking for someone to love them just as they are.

Healing hearts. Saving lives. Finding home.

We rescue the dogs that need us most – Cocker Spaniels and other small breeds with complex medical conditions, trauma, or urgent needs. We go above and beyond to give them the care they deserve and help them find the forever families who will never give up on them.

Camp Cocker Rescue began with one big heart and a simple belief: that no dog is too broken to be loved. We’re a passionate team of fosters, volunteers, and animal advocates who treat every dog like family. We stick around for the hard stuff because healing takes time, and no one should go through it alone.

How Adoption Works at Camp Cocker Rescue

We’re not here to rush you – we’re here to help you find the dog that’s truly the right match for your home, your heart, and your lifestyle. Our adoption process is thoughtful and supportive, with plenty of guidance along the way.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Fill Out an Application
Tell us about your lifestyle, experience, and what kind of dog you’re looking for. It takes about an hour to complete and helps us find your perfect match!
  2. Phone Interview & Vet Checks
We’ll talk more about your expectations, your home, and any specific dogs you’re interested in. We also contact your vet (and landlord, if applicable).
  3. Home Safety Check
We’ll do a quick home walkthrough via video (or in person if local) to make sure your space is safe, secure, and dog-ready.
  4. Meet the Dog
Once approved, we’ll help you schedule a time to meet one or more dogs in foster care. Most adopters come ready to go home with their new pup!
  5. Adoption & Support
After the match is made, you’ll complete the adoption and donation. You’ll also get lifetime support from our team – we’re just a message away if you need help.

Our Impact: From Ruff Starts to Happy Hearts

Our impact isn’t just measured in numbers – it’s measured in the lives transformed, both for our dogs and the people who love them.

🚗💨 Traffic back plus stopping for a DIY pet bath took four hours.

Penelope had to have three baths before the water was no longer dark from the dirt. 😢

She is now checked in at the vet to spend the night to get surgery tomorrow.

URGENT DONATIONS needed!

Blind older lady, Penelope was rescued from the Orange County, CA animal shelter today.

The shelter reported that she is in a lot of pain from her eyes bulging out (it appears to be glaucoma).

She needs a double eye enucleation asap. 💔

She seems super sweet and we are so hopeful for the fresh start that she is about to experience with Camp Cocker Rescue.

Would you like to make a donation today towards Penelope's medical bills?

No donation is too small at:

This is EXACTLY the type of dog we want to rescue MORE of but we are limited for space until we can increase our monthly donors enough to support the overhead of a rescue facility.

Please consider joining THE CAMPERS, our monthly giving program so that we can get closer to our goal!

Joining is super easy right here:

There are so rarely any cocker spaniels in our municipal animal shelters (this is a good thing). Without our international rescue partners that we are working with to save cocker spaniels from South Korea and Mongolia, we likely would have been faced with shutting down Camp Cocker Rescue by now.

We can't run a breed specific rescue without rescuing our breed, right?

Sadly, everytime we rescue non cocker spaniels from our local shelters, they take an extremely long time to get adopted. We still have a mixed breed puppy, Laguna that we rescued in August from a shelter, as well as Sandy (also a mixed breed) and Dolce (a Daschund).

If we can increase our CAMPERS to be able to support a rescue facility, then we will be able to open up our rescue to take in more cocker spaniels like this when they do end up in our shelters.

Chances are that this girl is going to take a very very long time to get adopted, due to her older age and her blindness.

Blind dogs see with their hearts and can be some of the easiest dogs to care for.

URGENT DONATIONS needed!

We just left the Orange County, CA animal shelter with a senior blind dog.

The shelter reports that she is in a lot of pain from her eyes bulging out (it appears to be glaucoma).

She needs a double eye enucleation asap and we plan to take her directly to a hospital. (hoping to stop first at a DIY pet bath place so she can get cleaned up for surgery)

Her new name is Penelope and we are so hopeful for the fresh start she is about to experience with Camp Cocker Rescue.
